Status: CLOSED (2015)
Piratz Tavern in Silver Spring, Maryland is legendary for one reason: they completely rejected Jon Taffer's makeover within days of filming.
Taffer transformed their pirate-themed bar into “Corporate Bar and Grill” – a generic sports bar concept. The owners hated it. Within a week, they ripped out everything and went back to pirates.
The Aftermath
The internet loved the rebellion. Piratz became briefly famous as the bar that told Taffer no. But fame doesn't pay the bills.
They eventually closed in 2015, citing rising rent costs. The owners said they had no regrets about rejecting the rebrand.
The Lesson
Sometimes the experts are wrong about what a business should be. Sometimes they're right and the owners just can't see it. Piratz is still debated in Bar Rescue fan circles.
