Mac & Chester’s SRO – The Real Minnesota Bar Rescue
Mac & Chester’s SRO (Standing Room Only) in Oak Grove, Minnesota was featured on Bar Rescue’s 100th episode in Season 4, titled “Hard Heads and Softballs.” Jon Taffer renamed it Boulder Lodge Bar & Grill.
The Episode
Friends Scott Mac and Todd Chester bought the bar Standing Room Only in 2012. The partnership that seemed solid on paper was struggling in reality. By the time Taffer arrived, the bar needed serious intervention.
The episode focused on both the operational problems and the friendship dynamics that were causing issues. Taffer worked to save not just the business but the partnership itself.
After the Show
Boulder Lodge Bar & Grill kept the Taffer-given name initially, but the business struggled to maintain momentum. Despite the national television exposure and renovations, the bar eventually closed.
Minnesota Bar Rescue Facts
Mac & Chester’s SRO/Boulder Lodge remains the only Bar Rescue episode filmed in Minnesota as of 2025. A 2025 episode did feature a Minnesota bar (Goodtime in Inkster), but that aired after this article’s subject.
